CBSE has confirmed that its re-evaluation and verification portal successfully withstood attempted cyberattacks—including a Dos attack involving 1.5 million hits—while processing applications from over 16,000 students on the very first day.
(CBSE) has confirmed that, despite facing multiple attempted cyberattacks on the very first day of the application process, its re-evaluation and verification portal remained fully operational. The Board stated that its cybersecurity infrastructure successfully thwarted these attacks, allowing students to continue using the platform without any major disruptions.
According to CBSE, the portal went live at 7:00 AM and was immediately met with a massive surge of students seeking to apply for the re-evaluation and verification of their examination results. Alongside the activity of genuine users, the platform also became the target of large-scale cyber threats.
In an official update shared on social media platforms, CBSE revealed that its cybersecurity teams detected a major ‘Denial-of-Service’ (DoS) attack shortly after the portal went live. This attack generated approximately 1.5 million (15 lakh) hits on the system within just two minutes, placing significant strain on the platform’s infrastructure.
The Board also reported that there were over 100,000 attempts to gain unauthorized access to files hosted on its servers. Despite these malicious activities, CBSE confirmed that its security systems effectively prevented any breaches or interruptions in service.
The Board further stated, “While thousands of students utilized the CBSE re-evaluation portal today, certain malicious elements attempted to disrupt services by unleashing a barrage of cyberattacks.”
The portal continued to handle the heavy traffic seamlessly.
CBSE emphasized that the re-evaluation portal functioned smoothly throughout the day, despite being under pressure from both genuine user traffic and attempted cyberattacks. By 3:00 PM, the platform was successfully serving over 8,000 concurrent users, thereby demonstrating its capability to efficiently handle heavy traffic loads.
The successful operation of the portal underscores the robustness of CBSE’s digital infrastructure and cybersecurity measures, which were designed to ensure uninterrupted access for students during critical examination-related processes.
CBSE Implements Improvements Based on Student Feedback
In addition to addressing cybersecurity challenges, CBSE has also implemented several enhancements to improve the user experience on the portal.
The Board stated that technical improvements were introduced following feedback received from students. One of the key changes involves extending the session duration, allowing applicants more time to complete the submission process without encountering automatic logouts.
According to CBSE, the objective of these enhancements is to make the platform more convenient, accessible, and user-friendly for students across the country.
